The stats of an item are enhanced by upgrading it, which is also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment gives an increase in the linearity of any stat.

Players can recycle up to six items at a time to gain a level gauge for each of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases depending on their rarity and level.

Upgrade components

An upgrade for an item in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can increase the stats of your weapon and armor. This can be done through many different methods that include using upgrade components as well as upgrading an item's mark levels or rarity. Additionally to this, many items can be reforged, which can boost their stats even more.

You can purchase upgradeable items throughout the game. They are available all over all over the world, as well as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. The most common method of upgrading equipment is through the use of upgrade components which are items that can be slotted into equipment. Most equipment comes with upgrade slots, and many require a certain level of upgrade. Certain upgrade components offer specific bonuses, while others give an overall bonus.

There are many types of upgrade components in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gems and enchantments, can be placed on any type of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than equipment-specific upgrades. Glyphs can only be found in gathering tools. They provide a variety bonuses, from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to providing extra crafting material.

To upgrade an item, simply select it in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The window will show an overview on the right side of the screen that shows the expected stats after the upgrade, along with any required components or materials. If you don't possess enough of either, the Upgrade button will say Blocked.

The upper-right corner shows the amount of upgrade components needed for an item. The cost of upgrading increases depending on the level of the upgrade and its rarity, but it can be reduced through various methods, such as buying upgrades from a vendor or trading them to other players.

Most weapons can be upgraded by an upgrade to a prefix like an insignia or rune. Many can be upgraded using a suffix upgrade. These upgrades alter the name of the item and add an adjective, like "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor.' The exceptions are the noninscribable wands, foci and shields from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which cannot be upgraded with any mods.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be a powerful tool to communicate visual information. They animate in order to grab the attention of the viewer and stimulate curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics body language, making them even more effective at conveying a message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs can also trigger a feeling of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.

Each glyph increases a stat's value by a certain amount. This is shown on the item upgrader when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This isn't the actual amount at which glyphs can improve a stat, but the maximum value by which it can do so. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and the quality of the item upgrader kit you are enchanting it to.

Most upgrade components slotted into items can't be replaced or salvaged without dismantling the gear in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you do not want to use, but it hasn't been incorporated to gear yet, you can move the item to another piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu in the Glyphs Panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.

You can take out the glyph using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item upgrader kit on which the glyph is located will be destroyed, however the upgraded item can be recovered by removing the glyph fragments.

When you take away an item after adding a glyph the shards from the glyph will vanish. You can also apply the glyph to your equipment to add a bonus. For instance, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and deal it slowly rather than all at one time. This is beneficial for those who take many hits from enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens let players alter the affixes on their equipment and weapons, and can be found in various ways such as in mistery boxes, as rare drops from skulled creatures, or from killing bosses. Each reroll token gives the player a brand new random affix, which is typically better than the original one. Reroll tokens are also a great method to reroll the stats of a weapon that can be upgraded to provide better damage or perks.

Rerolled items don't appear on the menu for item upgrades - perfectworld.wiki -, but they can be upgraded. If you click the "upgrade button", you can recycle these rerolled items. This will change the layout of the item's window and let up to six items to be chosen to recycle. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. The amount is by the rarity of the item and also its level. Therefore, higher-leveled items are more valuable to recycle than items with lower levels.

In addition to tokens for rerolls players can also use Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to reroll the Weapon Traits of an upgraded unit. Rerolls roll the percentage chance of a weapon trait. If it is higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower, the weapon remains the same. Weapons can be rerolled up to three times.

A reroll is a good option for upgrading an item, however, players must be aware that it will reduce the overall ilvl the weapon by the number of rerolls used to increase it to its final ilvl. This lowering effect is most effective on ring items and Diadems that do not have any alternatives to raise their ilvls.

The reroll system has been criticized by players for being expensive and it's more equitable to let players pay for it using money or food items which would allow players to alter their builds without a lot of time and effort. The developers do not plan to introduce paid rerolls at this point in the game's development. Instead, they're planning include a race change potion in the near future.

Leveling

There are a variety of ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the upgrade amount which boosts the upgrade item value of a given stat. The second is to increase the effect of upgrading, which increases the healing or damage of a specific stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. Once this is done, the new item will retain its iLevel but it will have the upgrade effects of the upgraded item type.

When upgrading items It is crucial to remember that upgrades are not guaranteed. In the majority of cases the best roll will result from glyphs, but there are also possibilities for greater or special rolls. In addition, the iLevel of the upgrade will be determined by the item type which means that if you upgrade a rare or unusual item to an exceptional item type, it could get an increased iLevel.

Upgrades to items can be costly especially if you're upgrading a piece of equipment from the standard to the legendary track. The cost of upgrading an item upgrading will depend on the iLevel it's built upon and the amount of upgrade levels. Additionally, certain upgrade tracks require crests in order to reach the next upgrade level.

If you're lucky your upgraded item will reach the maximum level of its upgrade track and unlock a bonus effect. This will provide the item with a significant upgrade value. The bonus effect changes with each upgrade level. In general the effect of upgrading is increased by a number of +3.

Depending on the item's base level and its upgrade process, the iLevel for the upgraded item will change too. For instance an item upgraded from being a rare or unique item to an exceptional one can be expected to gain the enhanced defense of the new base item.
