Illinois, as the largest market in the Midwest and home to more than two thousand corporate headquarters, a thriving entrepreneurial scene, and more than 1.2 million small enterprises, has all the resources global companies require to thrive in the current business climate. Illinois has witnessed a significant increase in foreign investment over the last few years. Governor JB Pritzker was joined by representatives from Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Network and local officials today in Chicago to inaugurate CZ Biohub Chicago - a groundbreaking research hub that is at the forefront of cutting-edge research. This initiative will bring together University of Chicago, Urbana-Champaign State University (UIUC) and Northwestern University researchers to study the development of human tissues as well to develop innovative therapeutics.

Governor JB Pritzker and Flender Corporation recently announced they have announced they are expanding their current plant for manufacturing in Elgin and will create 50 full-time employees while maintaining the 140 full-time positions they currently have.

The Illinois Small Business Development Center located at Southern Illinois University is funded partly through a cooperative agreement among U.S. Small Business Administration, Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and Southern Illinois University. The Center provides entrepreneurs from the local area with help in beginning or expanding their business by offering services like free workshops on business planning and one-on-one sessions with experienced Business Advisors and access to financing options.

State leaders in Indiana are encouraging employers to offer higher wages and benefits as a way of keeping child care workers working across the nation which is a problem due to a shortage of jobs. The move comes after the closing of a children's care center in Bronzeville which struggled to retain employees.

Illinois Department of Labor also launched an online tool designed to educate small businesses on the laws governing employment. Employers can search by keyword or browse through categories on this website, as well as connect to the appropriate state agencies and information sources.
